Hello everyone :-)
Have you ever wondered how a cover is born? whether it's crocheted or knitted.... and how long does it take to make it?
However trained and fast you may be in making the crochet hook or needle work... well it's not a job that can be done in an hour or two... you need a minimum of 15 hours of work to make a pram cover, did you imagine it? :-)
good, but before making it it must be designed after choosing the model.... starting from the sample with which it is calibrated to have the right final dimensions.
Normally the standard measurements for covers are these, although square covers are also very popular and fashionable at the moment:
Pram/Stroller --> 60 x 80 cm or 70 x 90 cm
Cradle/Cot --> 90 x 120 cm
If the cover is a single sheet, normally the central sheet is made and then the edging, but if the cover is made with multiple motifs (which can be square, hexagonal, etc.) all the necessary individual motifs are made and then assembled together and only then is the edge created. This procedure is valid for both crochet, knitting and machine making.
I like the idea of tackling this topic... given that the baby blanket has always been one of the gifts we tend to give most frequently when a baby is born. Obviously giving a handmade cover as a gift is not like giving an industrial product as a gift... not only because the product will obviously be physically different, but there will also be a big difference in price, since as you have seen it requires a lot of time to create.
I hope this information has been useful to you and see you in the next article!!!
